Good evening, Worcester families,

What an honor it is for me today to come and speak with you in reference to our Responsible Return. As all of you know, this week was an exciting week for us as 30% of our students returned to our buildings. I had the opportunity to stop in and see some of our kids and our teachers at work, and I couldn't be more proud of what I see happening in Worcester County Public Schools.
This has been a tough time for all of us, and we've continued to work together and collaborate through this entire process, and I know we're going to continue to do that. I would like to thank our Worcester County Health Department, Atlantic General Hospital, and all our healthcare facilities who are partnering with us to vaccinate our employees. Today, roughly close to 300 of our employees have received the vaccination with more to come in the future. So as I stand before you today, I want you to know that we are looking at the bright side of this pandemic probably for the first time.

I know as we continue to work, we're going to have more and more of our kids able to come back to our schools. It is my hope this week that we will discuss the next waves of our students to return to our buildings, and I assure you that I will do everything possible to make sure that our kids return to the buildings and that our staff and our students remain safe, so we continue to ask you: please make sure when sick, keep your child at home; wash your hands and have them wash their hands; social distance; and make sure you wear that mask. If we continue to keep those four things a priority we will be back in school much faster.

I want to thank you as parents for supporting our school system. I know you have been challenged as parents more than any other time in your life, and I, too, share that challenge with you. But, I know as we do here in Worcester County, we will work together to make sure our kids receive the education they so deserve.

I also want to take this opportunity to say thank you to our teachers. Our teachers have worked harder than they've ever worked before. They have to teach differently than they were trained; they have to teach differently than they've ever taught before. I know they have put in the time and energy to make sure your child our students receive the best possible education during this very, very difficult time.

So as we continue to work together, next week, I hope to share with you that our next wave of students will be returning and give you a date. But, I assure you that we are moving in the right direction. Stay tough. Stay focused, and together we will have our kids back in schools and we will all be working together again as our students are learning in the best possible situation which is in our classrooms.

Thank you, and may God bless you, and may God bless our school system.
