Responsible Return 2.0

Dear Worcester County families and community,

First, I want to extend my thanks for your incredible patience and understanding throughout the past year and a half as we dealt with this once in a generation pandemic. This work has not been easy, but I remain incredibly proud of how our school system community has handled this crisis.

Now, as we look ahead to the 2021-2022 school year, I am happy to present our updated return plan, Responsible Return 2.0. Within this plan, you will see that we have taken our best health and safety practices we developed between 2020 and now to ensure that our classrooms are ready for students to learn in an environment that resembles as close to normal operations as possible.

From the very beginning of this pandemic,  we have been steadfast in the belief that the best place for our students to learn is within their classroom with a highly qualified and loving teacher. To that end, we have dedicated enormous amounts of resources and time to ensure that we could reach that end goal. I am proud that WCPS was one of the few school system in Maryland to successfully model how a return to the classroom could be done.

Now, as we embrace what this next school year brings, know that WCPS is prepared and ready to ensure your child has a safe, successful school year.

Sincerely,

Louis H. Taylor
Superintendent of Schools
