The Stephen Decatur Middle School Bulldog Pride Afterschool Academy is so proud of the community sponsorships and partnerships that we created over the years. Currently, we have six partnerships and three sponsorships. Each of these relationships help us to meet the diverse needs of our students in unique and engaging ways.

Ocean City Surf Club sponsors the Surf Into Integrity Program. This club is a mentoring program that pairs up volunteers and students as they research and set various goals for themselves. Each week students then meet their mentors on the beach in Ocean City where they review their week’s progress and then they get in the ocean for some surf time!

The Ocean City Power Squadronoffers a boating licensure class at no charge for interested students. This year we have 15 students who will receive their boating license.

Stephen Decatur High School is a big part of our Bulldog Pride Academy. High School staff sponsor the following clubs: NJROTC Leadership Academy; Soccer Skills 101; and Grid Iron. After we received the MSDE Roboticsgrant and were in need of a qualified Robotics Instructor, Mr. Wilder, an SDHS teacher, stepped up and took the lead for us. Additionally, each Tuesday National Honor Society Members assist our students during our Tuesday Tutoring Club.

Worcester Technical High School teachers, Mrs. Sangwan and Mrs. Zienty have sponsored Science Olympiadsfor two years with our students. This year these amazing instructors and our team advanced to the State Competition.

The Worcester County Health Departmentcontinues to be a huge supporter of our students. Three different clubs are held each session under the direction of WCHD employees. The services that our students receive from these groups is amazing!

We are super excited about our newest partnership. This year we have added the Autumn Grove Stables to our list! After receiving the Hertrich Cash for Class award we teamed up with Autumn Grove to host the SDMS Riding Club. This class has been huge success and has gained a lot of attention from the surrounding community.

More than 240 students participate regularly in the Bulldog Pride Afterschool Academy at SDMS. The continued success of our program is dependent upon these partnerships. We are so grateful to live in such a generous community that truly values children

Stephen Decatur Middle School’s afterschool programs are funded from local operating funds and generous support of the above partners. You can support local afterschool programs like this through volunteerism, advocacy and in-kind donations.
