Using
Naviance, students, families, teachers, and school counselors can work
together to develop comprehensive road maps leading to student success.
Connecting academic achievement to college and career readiness is
the primary goal of the web-based program called Naviance. According to
the Naviance website, "It allows students to create a plan for their
futures by helping them discover their individual strengths and learning
styles and explore college and career options based on their results."
Naviance combines the terms "navigate" and "guidance." In Worcester
County Public Schools, Naviance will be available for students in sixth
through twelfth grades. Through this program, students will be able to:
- Identify their talents and interests
- Learn about what they might want to be (careers)
- Develop personalized learning goals and plans
- Establish a course planner for their high school experience
- Prepare for assessments like the PSAT, SAT, and ACT
- Search colleges which offer degrees in their areas of interest
- Apply for colleges
- Learn about and apply for scholarships
