Health & Safety Updates

Important Changes to WCPS Health & Safety Protocols - June 23, 2021

On June 15, Governor Hogan announced that effective July 1, the COVID-19 State of Emergency will end, with a 45-day grace period for transition. This means that the Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) 2021 Summer Academy program will begin on Monday, June 28, with no changes to current protocols.

Beginning on July 1, face coverings will no longer be required to be worn in WCPS facilities. However, WCPS, in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Health, strongly encourages the wearing of face coverings for elementary school-aged children and unvaccinated individuals.

During the  2021 Summer Academy program, WCPS will continue to physically distance students to the greatest extent possible, and students will continue to complete the health screening tool prior to entry into the school building each day.

Families are encouraged to reach out to their child's school for more information on Summer Academy protocols. Information on the 2021-2022 school year will be shared in greater detail later this summer.
