Good evening, families,
This is your Superintendent of Schools Lou Taylor. I am reaching out to you tonight to let you know that the Board of Education has approved a change to this school year’s calendar.
This change is just one component of a comprehensive effort on our part to address the well-being of our students and staff as the trauma of this pandemic lingers to nearly two years now. We know that it is nearly impossible to provide a high-quality education in our classrooms if our students, our faculty and our staff are not whole - both physically and mentally.
So, in order to provide some additional time to our students and staff, Friday, December 17 will now be an early dismissal for all students, and the following days – December 20, 21, and 22, will now be distance learning days for students. Lastly, two additional early dismissal days have been added later in the year on March 11 and May 6.
In addition to this time, we are working on providing both our students and staff with additional mental health resources to support their well-being until this pandemic is finally behind us. To view the full revised calendar adopted today, please visit our website, www.worcesterk12.org.
