Spring Testing at BES is right around the corner! You can help your child prepare for their spring assessments by: - Helping them go to bed early and get enough rest so they are ready to learn. - Be sure your student is at school as many days as possible leading up to testing. Every day of instruction matters! - Avoid dropping off your student late or picking them up early. These disruptions in the school day can impact the learning of your child. - If you have specific concerns, reach out to your child's teacher on how you can support your student!

With spring around the corner, WCPS is releasing its updated current school year calendar that reflects an updated last day of school, given the single inclement weather closure this year. Please note, June 14 and 17 still appear as potential make-up days, but are unlikely to be used.

Dr. Anthony Broughton, known by our students as MiSTER B. for his amazing energetic music videos that support young learners, visited BES today and put on a performance with PreK-3 – Kindergarten students! In the afternoon Dr. Broughton conducted professional development with our PreK and K staff on culturally relevant teaching. He holds a M.Ed. in Divergent Learning, a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education and served as a Regional PreK Coordinator for the South Carolina Department of Education before starting his own educational consulting firm. Dr. Broughton has received many accolades for his impact on students and service to his community and is a governing board member for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. We are so excited and thankful for the opportunity to have brought MiSTER B. to our school made possible by a grant through the Judy Center! IMPORTANT STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION: The Worcester County Board of Education remains committed to the safety and security of our students and staff. While we have already publicly addressed the recommendations and presentations by our law enforcement officials, we recognize that this continued public debate on school safety is not conducive to restoring the partnership between our entities, and it stands to further incite fear in our students. To that end, the Board and Superintendent of Schools has extended an open invitation to the Worcester County Sheriff and Chief Deputy to meet with the Superintendent and Chief Safety and Academic Officer to discuss the execution of our Memorandum of Understanding and how we can best move forward for the betterment of our schools.
