I spy two authors writing stories in the sand today at recess! Literacy is alive here at SHES 🙂♥️🦅

ASA flyers went home with 2nd and 3rd grade students today! Please register for Session I as the fun begins next Monday. 🙂

Our kindergarteners and 1st graders are off to a great start talking about how to care for our library books! They have many amazing ideas about how to prevent books from getting damaged or lost. We are so proud of how our little Eagles show respect to each other and our school.

It is that time of year! We are excited to announce that registration for Session I of After School Academy is open for 2nd and 3rd grade students. Snow Hill Elementary School’s STAR After School Academy will run from September 23rd to December 5th, Monday through Thursday, until 5:00 PM. On Monday through Wednesday, each session will include academic support paired with an enrichment academy. On Thursdays, students can select two academies of their choice. Acceptance into the program is on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to those with greater academic need. Families will receive a letter regarding their student's acceptance or placement on the waitlist. Those accepted will also receive a phone call. Thank you!

#WCPSInTheNews: Education News Source, The 74, highlights Worcester's performance with literacy: "Every state has its own pockets of success (represented as gold circles in the graphs). These “exceptional districts” are in the top 5% of their state, in terms of outscoring their expected reading proficiency rate. For example, Worcester County in Maryland serves about 7,000 students along the Atlantic coast. Worcester falls in the middle of the pack in terms of poverty, but it has by far the highest third grade reading proficiency rate in the state."
