Newark, MD, July 15, 2025– The Board of Education named Jennifer McDowell as the school system’s next Coordinator of Accountability and Assessment, effective immediately.
McDowell, who began her career with Worcester County Public Schools in 2004, notably served as a districtwide Reading Coach and most recently served as a fourth-grade teacher at Showell Elementary School. She will begin in her new role immediately, as Dr. Thomas Hamill transitions to a recently vacated position as a specialist overseeing data reporting and PowerSchool, the school system’s student information system.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. McDowell into her new role as Coordinator of Accountability and Assessment,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Annette Wallace. “With over two decades of dedication to our students and schools, she brings both deep instructional knowledge and a clear understanding of how data can drive meaningful improvement. Her expertise in reading instruction will be a valuable asset as we continue to pursue our goal of every child reading on grade level by third grade. We look forward to the leadership she will bring to this important work.”
