Newark, MD, May 21, 2026– At today’s Worcester County Board of Education meeting, several school-based administrative appointments and transfers were announced. The new assignments are effective July 1, 2026.
Following the retirement of Assistant Principal Robert Boyce at Pocomoke Middle School, Kristen Cashman will transfer from Pocomoke High School (PHS) to join the middle school’s administrative team. PHS alumna Dr. Elizabeth Finch was appointed to the vacancy at PHS following Cashman’s transfer. With nearly a decade of educational experience in neighboring Wicomico County, Finch currently serves as Assistant Principal at Pemberton Elementary School.
Current Snow Hill High School (SHHS) Assistant Principal Lauren McGinnis will transfer to join the administrative team at Stephen Decatur High School following the recent resignation of Dr. Curt Bunting. Additionally, Christopher Adkins will resume his prior role of athletic director at the conclusion of this school year. Rounding out SHHS’s leadership team will be Dr. LaVerne Cray and Leah James, who will transfer into the roles from Worcester Technical High School (WTHS) and Snow Hill Elementary School (SHES) respectively.
Returning to Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) is Makayla Muir, who was appointed to become assistant principal at SHES. Muir currently serves as assistant principal at Pittsville Elementary and Middle School but spent six years in progressive leadership roles with WCPS both at the school and district levels.
Dr. Brian Phillips returns to WTHS as assistant principal, where he will bring his expertise in career and technical education to the role. Lastly, Ashley Miller was formally appointed to the assistant principalship at Buckingham Elementary; she has served in the role in an interim capacity since July 2025.
