WCPS families, as you gear up for Back to School shopping, we want you to be aware of an important change. iPads across the school system have been refreshed to a newer model and are ready to go for students' return this September. The new model now requires headphones and earbuds to be USB-C compatible, so be sure to check that compatibility when purchasing from your child's school supply list. All lists have been updated to reflect this compatibility; view them online at

People find success when they put in the effort and put in the work. Our SkillsUSA National Team put a lot of effort into their work, and they ignited their potential- finding a lot of success today after their first day of full competitions. What sets WTHS apart is that every night, the team debriefs and gets their game plan ready for the following day. Our students know how to plan for success and execute the task at hand with powerful performances. Day 2 of competitions continues tomorrow and it's going to be exciting. Several individual and group competitors are vying for a national top 10 or better finish! Let's Go!!!

The SkillsUSA National Conference and Competition kick-off was exciting, and it really got 18,000 students ultra pumped! Guest speaker Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs spoke about his concern about the growing skilled labor gap that exists across America where for every 5 skilled workers lost to retirement only 2 new workers are being hired. The decreased pool of skilled women and men who are ready to work has been like this for over a decade. Major corporations like Snap On Tools and Toyota are here and ready to hire hundreds of our skilled SkillsUSA students! Let's Go!!!
