District leaders enjoyed visiting Stephen Decatur High School's Summer Academy this morning! It's always great to see students staying engaged, exploring new learning opportunities, and making the most of their summer. ☀️📚 #WeAreWorcester

We’re excited to welcome our new student representatives to the Worcester County Board of Education! Please join us in welcoming Savanah Pittas, Alaina Alvarado, and Mara Mills, who will proudly represent their schools at our Board of Education meetings throughout the upcoming school year. We look forward to their leadership and the valuable perspectives they will bring to these important discussions. #WeAreWorcester

What an incredible way to wrap up the week! Students from Berlin Intermediate School, Snow Hill Middle School, and Pocomoke Middle School showcased everything they learned during the Crescendo Summer Camp with Symphony 21 at their culminating performance.
Throughout the camp, students explored the world of music by learning to play the acoustic violin while also gaining hands-on experience with sound and lighting engineering. Their hard work, creativity, and confidence were on full display!
A special thank you to the Worcester County Education Foundation for generously funding this enriching opportunity for our students. #WeAreWorcester

“I enjoy interacting with students, staff & parents to help them get through their day, everyday.”

I really enjoyed being involved in the launch of the new school website a couple of years ago. Building, filling and maintaining the site's pages allows me a chance to get creative.
What People May Not Realize
It's NEVER the same day twice!
What She Loves Most About Her School Community
I love how caring the SDHS staff is, and also the rhythm of the school year. There's always some event, milestone or break to look forward to.

Wrapping up today's visits, WCPS leaders visited Pocomoke Middle School's summer academy programs, where students were taking the lead with their learning. Whether it was modeling mathematics using Apple Classroom or showcasing their ukelele skills, PMS students were having a blast today! #WeAreWorcester #LearningNeverStops

Today's fun continued with WCPS leadership stopping by Pocomoke Elementary, where they got in the summer academy spirit. From modeling "bubbles and ducktails" for our little ones to sharing some #BooksFromTheBackseat, there was no shortage of smiles and learning today! #WeAreWorcester #LearningNeverStops

A fantastic morning kicked off with WCPS leadership visiting summer academy at Pocomoke High School. In addition to traditional educational experiences, students were also able to begin driver's education to give them the foundational skills to be road-ready! Students weren't the only ones learning either as PHS hosted vertical articulation meetings between middle and high school educators to prepare for the coming school year. #WeAreWorcester #LearningNeverStops

We are, once again, excited about our STATT camp (Skilled Trades, Agriculture, Technical and Tourism) at Worcester technical high school.
In the first day, we got to see students editing video clips, designing lasercut logos, designing and shooting paper rockets, learning how to make pie crusts and learning to build their own picnic tables!
Carpentry, rocketry, audio/video production, baking and pastry arts, are only a few of the many wonderful offerings our students are going to dive into over the next several weeks.
Thanks to our County commissioners and @RuralMarylandCouncil for your support and sponsorship!
#WeAreWorcester

The anticipation is building for our first-ever Crescendo Summer Camp! Some rising fifth and sixth graders from across the county will be participating in this orchestra and digital music camp, lead by SDHS alum Daniel Bowen and Symphony 21. Thank you to the Worcester County Education Foundation for funding this amazing opportunity to provide kids with access to diverse music experiences!

Happy Independence Day! Wishing our WCPS families a safe and joyful holiday. #WeAreWorcester

Customer service is key. You must bring a bright smiling character to the table every day. We want these kids to be excited and feel secure about school nutrition.

Meet Tracy Schur, Bookkeeper at Ocean City Elementary
5 years with Worcester County Public Schools
“When students come up to me for a hug, it shows me that they remember how I made them feel… that's what I feel most proud of – not because of numbers, spreadsheets or reports I complete – but because I was able to be someone who made them feel safe.”
What She Loves About Her Work
After spending 23 years working in accounting for a local municipality, I never expected how much I'd enjoy this job! Working at OCES, I still have the financial responsibilities of making deposits, check writing and reconciliations but what makes this role special is the interaction with all the children. From helping during lunch to settling 3 year olds down for rest time. It's hard to believe how quickly five years have flown by.
What People May Not Realize
People don't realize a school bookkeeper does a little bit of everything. One minute, I'm counting money for a deposit, to helping serve in the cafeteria, to helping with recess duty or just being there for kids. Helping out wherever is needed to make our school day successful.
What She Loves Most About Her School Community
I love my school community because it feels like my family, everyone from the students to the staff. The kids always brighten my day, and it just makes coming to work enjoyable.
