Meet Christopher Muni, Pocomoke High School's Teacher of the Year, who we'll be celebrating at the annual Teacher of the Year Celebration on March 3.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Christopher T. Muni is a 28-year Marine Corps veteran with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education that models the way for colleagues and students. He serves as the JROTC Senior Marine Instructor at Pocomoke High School and Department Chair for Leadership Education. Gunner Muni believes in leading with compassion and by example to positively impact students’ life decisions and future goals. He teaches JROTC/Leadership Education, Employment Career Prep, and Freshman Seminar and serves on the NHS Committee, Freshman Seminar, Building Thinking Classroom PLCs, and SIP support staff.

Here, she developed a commitment to student-centered learning and instructional excellence. Now in her seventh year of teaching, she holds a master’s degree in school leadership from Wilmington University, further strengthening her leadership skills and focus on building positive school cultures. Maya remains deeply connected to the community that shaped her and is dedicated to supporting students, families, and educators through compassionate, purposeful leadership. Maya believes strong relationships and thoughtful collaboration are the foundation of meaningful, lasting educational change. Her work reflects a deep respect for both academic growth and student well-being.

Meet Heather Robins, Ocean City Elementary School's Teacher of the Year, who we'll be celebrating at the annual Teacher of the Year Celebration on March 3.

Heather Robins earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Salisbury University and a Master of Education in School Leadership from Wilmington University. Now in her 24th year as a Worcester County educator, she teaches fourth grade at Ocean City Elementary School. Heather has served in multiple roles across the county, including classroom teacher, CRT, and Instructional Coach. She believes in the power of reading and works to cultivate a love of literacy in her students. Heather has mentored interns, served on the School Improvement Team, tutored students, and strives daily to connect with students as readers, writers, and individuals.

Zachary Johnson began his career as a substitute teacher, became an educational assistant in 2008, earned a graduate degree in special education, and later obtained his physical education certification. He is thrilled to deliver adapted physical education at Cedar Chapel Special School. Mr. Zak has started multiple athletic clubs, coached Special Olympics teams, partnered with neighboring schools to create inclusive activities, and designs his own adapted equipment to allow all his students to engage in all activities. He takes having fun seriously and is committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment where PE truly is for everyone.

She is dedicated to providing high‑quality literacy instruction and believes strong relationships are essential to student success. Handley fosters a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. She mentors university interns, teaches in after‑school and summer programs, and contributes to the county’s English Language Arts committee and the school’s Literacy School Improvement Team.
