A big thank you to the Briddell Family Foundation for including Buckingham Elementary School in its annual “Reading is FUNdamental” Read-A-Thon! The program challenges elementary school students to read daily to help promote literacy and foster a love of reading.
Yesterday, the top readers celebrated their accomplishment with a bubbles and ice cream party!
A special congratulations to Ava S. for an incredible achievement of reading 2,015 hours during the Read-A-Thon! We are so proud of all of our readers and grateful for the support of community partners like the Briddell Family Foundation that help inspire lifelong learning. 💙 #WeAreWorcester

Meet Amber Clark, Cafeteria Manager at Buckingham Elementary

“I love when we're able to get a child to try something new. Whether it's a new entree or fruit they've never had, or even a vegetable.”
What She Loves About Her Work
Of course, the kids, but also the ladies I get to work with day to day in the kitchen.
What People May Not Realize
It's very busy, very fast paced. We have a lot of work to do in a short time to do it.
What She Loves Most About Her School Community
I love how supportive everyone is. Whether it's Dr. Jackson jumping on the cafeteria line to help serve, or the custodians and teachers helping get the kids through the line a little faster.

Today, Worcester Technical High School (WTHS) held a Liberty Tree dedication ceremony in partnership with the Sons of the American Revolution. In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, a Maryland Liberty Tree seedling, descended from the final surviving Liberty Tree of the original 13 colonies, was planted at WTHS as a symbol of history, community, and remembrance. #WeAreWorcester

“Everyone is working and trying really hard. You can see it in every teacher and staff member to make the learning experience great for all of the students.”
Proud Moments
At the end of each quarter when grades get collected and distributed smoothly with no hiccups. Also, families having a successful and seamless experience in registering and enrolling in our school system because of good communication and assistance in making the transition smoothly.
What People Don’t Realize
There is a lot going on the office and you have to be able to shift from task to task easily. I really like the routine of the position.
What She Loves Most About Her School Community
I like the close knit feel of SHMS and the positive energy that has become a part of our school. I like that we are small so we can know the students on a first name basis.
