BES students have been exploring a wide range of artistic techniques and creative expression in the art room! From studying self-portraits and reflecting on their unique identities, to developing patience and craftsmanship through weaving. They’ve also enjoyed foil embossing, creating bold, textured designs, and experimenting with printmaking to see how images can be repeated and transformed. In watercolor painting, students learned size compositions and painting techniques. It’s inspiring to see our young artists explore, create, and grow through so many different forms of art! 🎨 #ArtsAreAliveInWorcester

We are excited about a new afterschool program between SHMS AND SHHS, called Mats, Math, and Mentoring!

SHMS grade 6–8 students are paired with SHHS mentors for academic support and skill-building. SHMS students receive math tutoring, academic grade check-ins, and encouragement from their SHHS peers—building both confidence and connections. Then they walk to SHHS to learn wrestling skills, promote teamwork, discipline, and physical wellness.

They kicked things off with 24 students on the first night, with strong participation from both girls and boys!

This is what it’s all about—students supporting students, building relationships, and growing together academically and athletically.

April is Maryland Safe Schools Month, and Worcester County Public Schools remains committed to maintaining safe and secure learning environments for all students and staff. As part of this commitment, we value our partnerships with our allied emergency service agencies, I Love U Guys Foundation, and Maryland Center for School Safety. We encourage our students and staff to stay vigilant and report any concerns to a trusted school employee or through the Safe Schools Maryland Anonymous Reporting System. Additionally, we encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the five standard response actions used during an incident to help ensure a coordinated and effective response.
