PE and Health Teachers were treated to some great professional development this week. Adapted PE teacher Zachary Johnson showed teachers how he adapts PE for his special needs students and gave them suggestions for doing the same. 2025 National SHAPE Teacher of the Year, Brad Hunter, joined us to introduce the APE bucket and the schools left with APE buckets of their own! Finally, Luke Hollis, MSDE PE Specialist came to present some skills-based PE instruction on PE Gymnasium Classroom Climate and structure. This is going to yield some great instruction this year for our students! #WeAreWorcester

Thank you so much to Dr. Lisa Stuart Whitehead, National Art Education Association's Supervisor of the Year, for coming to work with our Art Teachers this week for PD. She presented on how AI can still help our students maintain and develop creativity and studio habits of mind, if used properly! Three of our amazing teachers, Lindsey, Mary Beth and Heather also presented to our teachers on helping students learn to better speak about and write about their artwork. Using the EET (Expanding Expression Tool), teachers can help students analyze their art more thoroughly and communicate the expressions and intentions of their work purposefully and articulately. #ArtsAreAliveInWorcester @MSDEFineArts

What a day for WCPS music teachers yesterday! They received very informative PD from InTech's own Caleb Wilson, got helpful MMEA information and updates from MD President Anthony Conto, and got sing with and learn about formative assessment alignment from MSDE Arts Specialist and bassoonist Mateen Milan! It was a day packed with arts-rich learning, technology and networking. We cannot wait to welcome back students on Tuesday! #ArtsAreAliveInWorcester @MSDEFineArts

As we prepare for the start of the 2025–2026 school year, we’re proud to introduce the district leadership team guiding Worcester County Public Schools.
Dr. Annette Wallace, who previously served as Chief Safety & Academic Officer for Grades 9–12, will now lead the district as Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Matthew Record joins the team in that role, bringing new perspective and leadership to our high school academic and safety initiatives. They are joined by returning district leaders: Dee Shorts, Chief Academic Officer for Grades PK–8; Dr. Dwayne Abt, Chief Operating & Human Relations Officer; and Vince Tolbert, Chief Financial Officer. We look forward to the continued momentum and leadership this team brings into the new school year. #WeAreWorcester
